Fabregas: No more excuses for Chelsea under Conte

The Spaniard believes his new manager will not require a season of transition and will demand results immediately, while he is happy to play 'the Andrea Pirlo role' next term
Cesc Fabregas has backed incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte to give the squad the drive and focus they need to return to the summit of the Premier League.

The Blues made a miserable start to their title defence, with Jose Mourinho paying the price in December, but have improved hugely under interim boss Guus Hiddink.

And Fabregas is convinced Conte is the right man to succeed the Dutchman, and says the Italian will not need a season of transition to get the Blues back to their best.

“I love football and I’ve been studying what he does a little bit in his previous teams,” Fabregas explained on Monday Night Football.
